YouTube's Best Sport Videos of the Week - Aug 24th to Aug 31st

Another week, another post of the best sports clips on the net. With the Olympics finished, baseball wrapping up the dog days or summer and the NFL, NHL and NBA yet to start it's a bit of a down time in the world of sport. We had to look extra hard but we found a few nuggets out there for you:

  • Not one, but two, sportscasters deciding to dedicate time from their shows to discuss the possibility of Usain Bolt coming to the NFL. Ridiculous.

  • The official trailer for NHL 09 featuring a digitized Dion Phaneuf. We want one.

  • An amazing fight between a female cop and a drunk female fan at Yankee Stadium. We guess tensions are running high with the Yankees close to elimination.

  • Real Men of Genius: Mr. Fantasy Football Manager Guy. We love the line: "You were born with the one skill every manager needs to player fantasy football...absolutely no skill playing actual football." It's funny, cause it's true.

  • In September, Playboy will be sending out their NFL picks directly to your cell phone. We went to their website to see what this was all about but we got side tracked.

  • And this week's Clip O' The Week is from the the Redeem Team celebrating after their gold medal win. All normal until the 50 second mark, where it seems King James is either really drunk or doesn't know his own anthem:

YouTube's Best Sport Videos of the Week - Aug 10th to Aug 17th

Each week at Waikiki Hockey we do our best to round up all the videos that fall through the cracks during the week. A pretty light menu on the spread today ... we blame the Olympics.

  • Raptor Chris Bosh made our list last week with his Olympic preparations. Bosh makes it back-to-back weeks with his visit to the Great Wall of China.
  • If the Olympics are too boring for you, then you may appreciate the Naked Olympics ... brought you by Trojan.
  • We talked about this clip in our Bizarre Olympic Moment segment, but if you missed the most graphic injury from the 2008 Olympics you may want to check it out again ... if you can stomach it that is.
  • A pig playing sports. Like we said it's been a slow week.
  • Carmelo Anthony get's punk'd. Great clip if you're a fan of Anthony ... or punkings.
  • A comedy short (well it's not really funny, but it is short) from the 1997 NHL awards ... NHL Soups.
  • Finally, this week's Clip O' the Week:
Peyton Manning wants American Football in the Olympics. At first we thought this was a joke but if so, it's a pretty elaborate one as they have set up a website with a petition. Either Manning is a comedic genius or he's been sacked a few too many times... we're not sure which:

YouTube's Best Sport Videos of the Week - Jul 28th to Aug 3rd

A look at the most interesting sports videos posted onto YouTube this past week:

- A video & photo tribute to former(?) Leaf Mats Sundin and his big bald head.

- "Top 10 Reverse Lay-ups" from the 2007-08 NBA season. Reverse Lay-ups are much better than the regular kind.

- The breast -- sorry I mean -- BEST fans of the Montreal Canadians. Photos of hot girls wearing Habs gear mixed in with Montreal players. The girls almost make up for having to look at Saku Koivu.

- Some kid showing everybody his favourite hockey cards. I would make fun of how big of a nerd this kid is, but I probably would have done the same thing if YouTube was around when I was 12.

- Boxer Wladimir Klitschko (who currently holds the IBF, WBO, and IBO world heavyweight titles) on "Late Night With Conan O'Brien".

- Highlights of Jason Bay's first game as a member of the Boston Red Sox. I liked him so much more before he was a Sock ... and Manny Ramirez's debut in Dodgers blue, wearing number 99.

- Some crazy street basketball dribbling starring 'Hot Sauce'. That's how we used to play it in the hood.

- A good mix of some classic hockey clips from the last 25 years. Looks like it would have taken a good amount of time to put together.

- A clip from the brand new EASports NHL09. Apparently, it's getting very good reviews.

- Steve Nash and Baron Davis are set to star in the sequel to "Step Brothers".

- The New Zealand basketball team proves the Haka just doesn't work when it's done by tall, lanky, white guys....these guys show how it's really done.

- There are a few sporting moments in the "Top 10 Racist Things Said on Live TV" list. It's amazing how dumb people can be.

- And this week's "Waikiki Hockey" pick for "Clip of the Week" is Angel's pitcher Justin Speier doing his best Mike Tyson impersonation. His impersonation is about as good as his pitching line is this season:

Find something worthy of Waikiki Hockey? Pass it along!
