Waikiki Dictionary...

1. Homer
- American bonehead.
- "Pull a Homer": to succeed despite idiocy.
"Looks like I just pulled a Homer!" - Laker Magic Johnson, after slipping on water and having the ball fly out of his hands, off a ref's head, and into the basket for the game winning three pointer.

2. Nuske
- Permanent rookie, friend of Waikiki Hockey
- "Pull a Nuske": to fail miserably while making a rookie mistake
"Looks like I just pulled a Nuske!" - Eagles WR DeSean Jackson, after he dropped the ball one yard in front of the end zone, thus missing a touchdown.

Jackson must be a pretty big fan of Nuske's as he also pulled a Nuske when he used to play in College:

If Jackson keeps this up we may have to change the name to 'pull a Jackson".

YouTube's Best Sport Videos of the Week - Sept 8th to Sept 15th

Another edition of Waikiki Hockey's best (and worst) sport videos of the week.

  • The NFL is in full swing which means SportsCenter will only broadcast NFL-related news and we'll see NFL advertisements 40 times a day.

  • The Pittsburgh Penguins have a pretty cool promotion ... players deliver season tickets to the fans. This results in a few awkward moments like in this clip with Sidney Crosby. When the fan gets a crappy player doing the delivering ... the awkward moments are even worse for the players ... but better for us watching.

  • This video teaches us two things about Greg Oden. 1) He has Obama-mania 2) He likes the backstreet boys. We think those two things may cancel each other out.

  • How could you not like Trevor Linden? Here's his reaction to getting his jersey retired by the Canucks.

  • Finally some good news for the Leafs. Apparently, the reason they sucked so severly last season had nothing to do with their complete lack of talent ... it was because the logo they had at center ice was "weak and limp". Phew. Crisis averted ... the new logo is definitely very strong and rigid.

  • It was announced this week that Patrick Roy will finally be getting his jersey retired by Les Canadiens. Time to revel in some of his best moments (pardon the quality) ... our favourite? Roy at Disney World. What a dork.

  • This guy had a pretty decent idea ... 10 dirtiest sounding sports names. But unfortunately he didn't excute very well meaning he ends up on the 'worst' side of the list. You think he could have at least gone to the trouble of memorizing the list. Just a little bit of effort ... that's all we ask.

And now for our Clip O' The Week:

You know what's creepy? When your dad comes and hangs out at your College. You know what's creepier? When your dad takes you and your two young female friends to a football game. You know what's even creepier than that? When your dad is David Hasselhoff and he films the whole thing and puts it up on his social networking site (which is called Hoffspace, we kid you not):

YouTube's Best Sport Videos of the Week - Aug 24th to Aug 31st

Another week, another post of the best sports clips on the net. With the Olympics finished, baseball wrapping up the dog days or summer and the NFL, NHL and NBA yet to start it's a bit of a down time in the world of sport. We had to look extra hard but we found a few nuggets out there for you:

  • Not one, but two, sportscasters deciding to dedicate time from their shows to discuss the possibility of Usain Bolt coming to the NFL. Ridiculous.

  • The official trailer for NHL 09 featuring a digitized Dion Phaneuf. We want one.

  • An amazing fight between a female cop and a drunk female fan at Yankee Stadium. We guess tensions are running high with the Yankees close to elimination.

  • Real Men of Genius: Mr. Fantasy Football Manager Guy. We love the line: "You were born with the one skill every manager needs to player fantasy football...absolutely no skill playing actual football." It's funny, cause it's true.

  • In September, Playboy will be sending out their NFL picks directly to your cell phone. We went to their website to see what this was all about but we got side tracked.

  • And this week's Clip O' The Week is from the the Redeem Team celebrating after their gold medal win. All normal until the 50 second mark, where it seems King James is either really drunk or doesn't know his own anthem:

YouTube's Best Sport Videos of the Week - Aug 10th to Aug 17th

Each week at Waikiki Hockey we do our best to round up all the videos that fall through the cracks during the week. A pretty light menu on the spread today ... we blame the Olympics.

  • Raptor Chris Bosh made our list last week with his Olympic preparations. Bosh makes it back-to-back weeks with his visit to the Great Wall of China.
  • If the Olympics are too boring for you, then you may appreciate the Naked Olympics ... brought you by Trojan.
  • We talked about this clip in our Bizarre Olympic Moment segment, but if you missed the most graphic injury from the 2008 Olympics you may want to check it out again ... if you can stomach it that is.
  • A pig playing sports. Like we said it's been a slow week.
  • Carmelo Anthony get's punk'd. Great clip if you're a fan of Anthony ... or punkings.
  • A comedy short (well it's not really funny, but it is short) from the 1997 NHL awards ... NHL Soups.
  • Finally, this week's Clip O' the Week:
Peyton Manning wants American Football in the Olympics. At first we thought this was a joke but if so, it's a pretty elaborate one as they have set up a website with a petition. Either Manning is a comedic genius or he's been sacked a few too many times... we're not sure which:
